Meet Mark, General Manager at Marston & Langinger.
I’ve always had a great passion for historic and modern buildings, period properties and remarkable architecture. My job provides me with endless opportunities to create and develop exciting projects, working with a team of dedicated and enthusiastic individuals.
Tell us 3 facts about you.
- I was born in Australia – we moved to the UK when I was 5.
- I now live in the countryside in a barn that my wife and I renovated ourselves.
- Charlotte and I have 2 children, Max 7 and Isabelle 9.
Do you have any pets?
2 sheep, Bo and Peep – they keep the grass trimmed!
Tell us one unusual things about you.
I spent many enjoyable years rowing for Tideway Scullers, in Chiswick.
If you could do one job, what would it be?
I’d have to say; an Architect.
What do you like to do at the weekends?
Other than spending time with the family and fitting in the odd bike ride, I like long term projects such as building the garage workshop and gardening.
What’s your favourite thing to do with the family?
Walks over hills and into the village, my son always insists we should stop at the pub!
Jaguar XK120, it’s probably due to the Jaguar garage I drive by everyday on the way to work…
How did you get into the conservatory business?
I studied aerospace engineering because I originally wanted to be a Pilot, but it didn’t work out. Along the line, I ran my own building works company for a number of years, I did renovations and new builds which eventually lead me to Alitex. I didn’t realise they were so close to where I live until we drove past on one of their open mornings. I was blown away by the company’s quality, attention to detail and their ethos.
How long have you been with the company and what’s made you stay?
I’ve been here for 3 years. I get the opportunity to create and develop exciting projects, working with a team of dedicated and enthusiastic individuals. I have great passion for architecture and period properties, I love to observe buildings, gardens and landscapes.
